Delmas Christian Schools

Delmas, pronounced Del-mah, is a large region of downtown Port-au-Prince. The Delmas Christian School is located on Delmas Street — one of the busiest avenues in the city. Rebuilt after its complete destruction in the 2010 earthquake, this well-respected 3-story elementary and secondary school educates 531 students. Each year, new resources and classes have been added including a computer lab to educate upperclassmen and a kitchen where students can purchase lunch.

Current Needs – Delmas

Electric Pump for Well – In 2021, a well was dug but water can only be pumped manually. By installing an electric submersible pump, the water can be sent directly to the cistern and eliminate the need to purchase water or carry it bucket by bucket. ($6000)

Furnishings – The school needs to replace 20 benches with desktops and 5 chalkboards ($200/bench, $150/chalkboard)

Friday VBS & Summer Lunch Program – The school wants to host a weekly VBS on Fridays in the summer and feed the children a hot meal with a take-home bag of rice and beans every week ($32/child)
